How To Trade ETF's

In this article I’m going to review the ETF Trend Trading course but before I get into the review I’d like to give you a quick overview of what ETF trading is. Here is Wikipedia’s description of an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF):

An exchange-traded fund (or ETF) is an investment vehicle traded on stock exchanges, much like stocks. An ETF holds assets such as stocks or bonds and trades at approximately the same price as the net asset value of its underlying assets over the course of the trading day. Most ETFs track an index, such as the S&P 500 or MSCI EAFE. ETFs may be attractive as investments because of their low costs, tax efficiency, and stock-like features.

An ETF combines the valuation feature of a mutual fund or unit investment trust, which can be bought or sold at the end of each trading day for its net asset value, with the tradability feature of a closed-end fund, which trades throughout the trading day at prices that may be more or less than its net asset value. ETFs have been available in the US since 1993 and in Europe since 1999.

So how about the ETF Trend Trading course and it’s creator. Well the course has been put together by ex city trader ‘Big A’. Apparently the name Big A was given to him not because of his stature but because of the size of the trades he made! He managed a large fund and regularly made trades of over 50 million dollars, so he knows what he’s doing.

The ETF Trend Trading course is designed so that you only have to take 5 – 10 minutes each night after the market has closed. This means you don’t need to spend all day glued to a screen like you would with day trading (although you could use this course to day trade but it’s not the prime focus). By only making trades after the market has closed you are removing a huge amount of the emotional side of trading which can be a big problem for traders.

So with this ETF trading system you will be spending around ten minutes each evening checking your trades. You wont be making a trade every night though. The system averages around 4 to 8 trades each month. If you use the software included with the course (more on that later) there may be a few more trades each month. So it’s not exactly hard work.

The course itself is provided on a CD-ROM set and is then backed up with Internet support and personal web training. Big A will show you every day with an on screen demonstration what he is doing. You will see him set up his trades and show you were his entry, stop and limit orders are. He also conducts live weekly webinars.

So lets go through exactly what Big A has included in the ETF Trend Trading course. As already mentioned you get 6 CD-ROM’s that include his entire ETF trading strategy. You simply put them in your computer one by one and let Big A teach you.

The next element to the course is the email support. You get a full 12 months email support included in the price of the course, which is pretty impressive. I know of other courses that actually charge you extra for this sort of service so it’s good to see that this is included.

You get access to an online members area for a full year. In this you will get bonus videos and resources. This is also where you will find the daily videos showing you exactly what trades Big A is doing.

There is a quick start guide to get you up and running quickly. Plus a manual with lots of examples of how the system works. Also included is complete teaching on trading psychology and managing your money, two very important subjects. He also includes a list of the best ETF’s to trade.

Another part of the course is the 24-month retirement plan giving you a step-by-step plan to early retirement. As mentioned earlier Big A also runs a weekly webinar. To be exact he runs two webinars each week, one for new students and one for the more experienced. These are recorded and are available in the member’s area mentioned earlier.

And lastly is the software that’s included with the course called the PD Trade Scanner. You can use this software to find extra trades beyond the standard system using a counter trend strategy. This counter trend entry strategy is programmed into the software so you can find these trades easily. This will add an extra 5mins of work each night but gives you some great trades.

All in all this is a great package. I’m particularly impressed with the level of support you are given in the form of email support, daily videos and weekly webinars. Too often with these types of course you are sent the manuals and then left on your own to figure everything out. With the ETF Trend Trading course Big A really supports you along the way to becoming an expert ETF trader. Highly recommended.
